PUZZLE TREES
English fans have chosen Fernando Alonso as ..."the best driver of the year"..., says the blog of Edward Gorman, a correspondent for The Times WE agree.:-)
My photographs of these trees were taken 1) near the Post Office in the rain 2) on the beach front 3) in front of the church near the Town Hall.Known locally as palo boracho or floss silk tree.

Theatre Visit

| ANTONIO LOBATO |
We all enjoy our wonderful commentator and his team, Antonio Lobato. He has kept us vastly entertained with episodes from racing all over the world for the past five years. His enthusiastic style and engaging smile, chats with Fernando and the two Spanish drivers from Ferrari and McClaren,Pedro de la Rosa and Marc Gene, informative and instructive have made all the difference to millions of fans. Thanks Antonio from an old fan.
Hooray for Fernando winning second place in Brazil and commiserations for Massa who though winning the race was beaten on points by a last minute overtaking of Glock by Hamilton almost on the last bend of the final lap. He went on to finish fifth with enough points to win the Championship .
The visit to Malaga Teatro Cervantes was accomplished in torrential rain, and well worth the effort.
The concert was Dvorak the familiar Serenata for strings followed by Serenata for wind, AND Symphony No 6 by Dvorak, conducted by EWALD DANEL
Next meeting on 5th November will NOT be in Bar Central due to winter closing.
We are meeting in " LA REJA" which is on the street behind the RED PARROT turn right at the corner and walk past the vet's clinic.

ALONSO WINS AGAIN!
Sunday 28th
September was a special day throughout Spain for fans of Fernando Alonso,
who won the first night race Gran Prix in Singapore. Congratulations Fernando
and another cup from TESS!
ALONSO was again
1st winning the Japanese Gran Prix on
Sunday 12th October.
TESS CUP NUMBER
THREE
Surprising to see
that The Euro Weekly News, Costa del Sol
newspaper, had on it's back page an article about Lewis Hamilton's poor 12th
place in the Japanese Gran Prix and yet never mentioned, once, that Fernando
Alonso, Spain's former World Champion had gained a 1st place podium with a
superb race.!!
4th place for
Alonso in China
with Hamilton driving a very fast disciplined race to win. The last race of the championship in Brazil on November the 2nd will be the decider.

We had a Yelmo Cine
visit to see the film "Vicky and Christine in Barcelona"
Some of the
scenes with Gaudi designed buildings as settings, were stunning.
The TCHAIKOVSKY
concert on Saturday 4th October, was the first of the season and a wonderful
performance by the Malaga Symphony Orchestra. Followed by the second
Tchaikovsky night on Saturday 11th at the Teatro Cervantes, Malaga.
Highlighting the cellist Asier Polo.
Our sympathy goes to Fuengirola town for having the worst ever weather during their feria.

ROMERIA
The rain predicted
for Sunday 21st September, held off and the Torremolinos' Romeria was a
brilliant procession of horses and riders; decorated carts pulled by oxen, and
traditionally dressed crowds. There was drinking and dancing all the way up to
the pine forests. Many people had turned out for this special day of the year.
From Wednesday
after the official opening the street lights came on and all the plazas had
their own marquees with dancing and entertainment. Throughout the days there
were free servings of typical Spanish foods callos ,migas and paella.
Rain again held off for the final flower offering on Monday, 29th of September the Dia de San Miguel . To the drumming of the town bands, the effigy of the Archangel Michael, patron saint of Torremolinos, was paraded around the streets. Accompanied by the Foreign Legion soldiers, performing their devastatingly accurate rifle drills.

Sorolla Exhibition
C.A.C. Just a ten minutes walk from the Malaga terminal.
We will be meeting at the Renfe station in La Nogalera 3.30 pm for the next train to Malaga, on Tuesday 16th.
Today's race in the rain at Monza for the Italian Gran Prix was a win for the young German, Vettel of the Torro Rosso team; run by ex Formula 1 driver, popular Gerhard Berger.
Alonso was just beaten to a podium place at the last by Kubica and ended a cheerful fourth.
Next group meeting at Cafe Bar Central, Plaza Andalucia 11.00 Friday the day before our own Feria de San Miguel.
Looking forward to the procession starting 10.30-11.00 on SUNDAY, 21st September

August Birthdays
![]() |
| POSSUM |
In the last two weeks we have had a weekend in the campo and a visit to the Cine to see "Mama Mia" in both languages. Heartily recommended, if you want to leave feeling like dancing and singing as we did. Malaga feria is this week and not to be missed.
Happy birthday to Shona Peter Christine Elaine and all other Leos tuning in. Congratulations.
Thanks to all my friends who rang, sent flowers and cards and helped me to celebrate. A huge thank you to family for a memorable time. xx
This weekend is the Valencia Gran Prix. Sunday 24th
Next meeting 22nd August 11.00am Bar Central.

ECLIPSES
August holidays, hot hair dryer winds and unpredictable Uranus and Mars in conflict; lots of interruptions mean our meetings are a bit thin. But the Gran Prix was exciting with Massa being robbed of a clear win with two laps to go.
My visit to the campo for peace and quiet revealed a sky full of stars, traffic jams, and more heat.
With a solar eclipse and two lunar eclipses this month, changes are abounding, mainly for Leos who are ruled by the sun. Watch out for tempers rising!
Next meeting 11.00 August 8th Bar Central, Andalucia Plaza
