February 4th Meeting

ART GALLERY
The visit to the modern art exhibition in Benalmadena Costa at the Art Gallery, was intriguing to say the least; being open minded we had more than we bargained for with the videos. One of which was showing a man setting fire to a room before dousing himself and also a blonde woman lying asleep in bed and apparently burning up. This scarily challenged our minds to hold on to the image while the scene was covered in falling white flakes.!
Scenes of a woman swimming underwater to a news commentary; a football game with a book for a ball and a fascinating video of a group of people using signing language to convey the most subtle and descriptive of words and thoughts. An extraordinary picture composed of ten thousand images held the attention but not so the plain blank painted blocks and some very odd compositions. Better were the digital photos of light in motion.
One of the group was so agog that it took a few minutes to recognise, that what she was looking at, was an ornate side exit.!

Next Meeting Friday 29th follows Thursday’s Dia de Andalucia so we should have plenty to say! This festival commemorates the 1980 referendum which gave Andalucia its autonomous status. The green-and-white flag will be waving on Andalucia Day

February 3rd Meeting

CAFE BAR CENTRAL

Lists of Activities and places to go were handed out and most interest shown in a visit to Yelmo Cineplex .to see the latest films
We would all like to go to La Conception Gardens, above Malaga which has an amazing number of rare trees and plants. Next then to Antequera the Dolmans and El Torcal.

We looked at a brochure for a Cortijo –Casa Rural, "La Cañada del Sacristán" near VILLANUEVA DEL ROSARIO for a day's run up to the mountains of Malaga. A newly converted cortijo with great ambience and food. See the link.
Talked about doing a visit to a Co-operative for olive oil pressing in the same area.
Support also for  a visit to Malaga to see the Cathedral and some museums, with tapas to follow at our favourite cafe-bars. Mention made of watching Flamenco Dancing at the Hotel Bajondillo on Saturday nights from 9-.00-to 10.00 pm.

There was a list taken of classes to enrol for at the Centro Pablo Ruiz Picasso in September. However Spanish isn’t the easiest of languages to learn to make Tiffany Glass and Ceramics or Lace Making. Painting, Yoga, learning Spanish Dancing, Cooking and Language classes were all popular.
Book exchange is well established

Sitters were mentioned for pets and plants. Computer literates to give help and advice.
Transport to places, always a problem, had a couple of generous volunteers with space for four others. Some interest was shown in a new Blog under construction by this willing amateur !
Next meeting on February 22nd.
